Hi! So this is my take on all that should take place to fix Lexzie. There is one big difference between the show and the fic, but when we get there, you guys can ask me about it all you want then.

Ask any questions you want before then. But the answer might have to be "We shall see" lol Depending on what it is.

It's dark and twisty at first. Because you can't exactly go from that to all happy and smiley and sunshine and lollipops. Just...stick with me. It get better. I promise. On my love of Lexzie and all there fictional off spring. I will not toture you more than I need to. lol I'm not Shonda.

Alex sat on the stool watching patient after patient receive the precious life saving treatment. For hours. Many hours. He just sat. He could have been working, saving lives that actually wanted to be saved, but there he was on that stool.
All he could think was that life was cruel. Izzie would show up as soon as he left. That’s the way it worked. Then she would be the one thinking he was heartless and stupid. So he couldn’t just get up. He had to sit there.

He looked down at his ring finger. It didn’t have a ring on it because the wedding wasn’t supposed to be theirs. Izzie wore the plastic one he had picked up at the dollar store by Meredith’s house, but she had told him he didn’t have to. She knew that a tacky plastic ring wasn’t manly and she told him that all that mattered was what was in his heart and not what was on his hand.

She was what was in his heart, but that was the only place she seemed to be these days. She wasn’t at the hospital. She wasn’t at the trailer. She wasn’t even answering her phone most of the time. It was like she just…wasn’t.
She had become the child who hides under the bed to avoid actually having to go to bed. Only finding her wasn’t as simple as getting down on the floor and taking a peek after hearing a little snicker. She was much better at the game now.

The question was this: was this a game he was interested in playing anymore? She wasn’t there to receive the chemo she needed which seemed to suggest to him that she had given up on not only her career and their marriage, but her life too. He was clinging to the hope of reuniting with a ticking clock.

“She didn’t show?” he heard Reed’s voice question.

“Nope,” he replied, looking up at her. “Apparently she really is that…dumb. What – does she think that because she had a next to nothing chance and she beat it – that now she can just blow off the IL-2 and nothing will happen to her?”

“I don’t know.” Her pager went off. “I’ll be back.”

“Don’t worry about it,” he said. “What’s the point in you wasting you time sitting here with me waiting for nothing? You don’t even like Izzie.”

“But I like you,” she said with the sweetest smile she could muster up.

“Adamson, you really don’t have to wait for my delusional wife with me.”

“Okay,” she replied. “See you…tomorrow then I guess.”

“Yeah.”

“You gonna be okay?”

“Depends on your definition,” he told her. “But answer your page.”

“Okay.”

His own pager beeped a few minutes later. He had been ignoring pages all day so he didn’t have to leave. However, this time he got up and, with one final glance toward the door, walked away. He was going to have to at some point anyway.

He checked the page as he took the stairs up a floor. His pace quickened when he saw it was from the chief. “Oh, shit,” he mumbled. Ever since the merger any page from the chief was definitely a major cause for concern.

He knocked on the chief’s closed door when he got to it. “Come in, Karev!” Richard called out from behind his desk.

He took a breath and stepped through the door, not even closing it before he began his defense. “Look Chief – I know I’ve been…I haven’t been answering my pages, but –“

“That’s not why I paged you,” he said. “Relax.”

“Then why…?”

“I have a lot of work to do tonight, so I stepped outside for some fresh air before I got down to it, and I saw your wife standing there.”

“She’s outside?”

“Yes, she is,” he nodded. “I didn’t know what to say to her. I know she was let go at a difficult time. I know. So I was a coward. I didn’t say anything. Just gave her a nod and came back in. But I thought maybe you could tell her –“

“She’s not talking to me.”

“Oh.”

“Look, can I go now?” he asked.

“Sure. See you tomorrow.”

“Yeah,” he sighed. “Tomorrow.” It was a reminder that life had to go on this way.

Cristina was in the resident’s lounge when Alex went to change. “So how’d it go with the wife?” she asked, assuming Izzie had in fact shown up like he had told her she would.

“It didn’t,” he said as he removed his scrub top and pulled down the black undershirt he had on under it.

“Oh.”

“Yep. Apparently she’s outside.”

“And you’re in here, why?”

“She wanted to leave. She’s the one who wrote the note and took off.”

Cristina pulled the ponytail out of her hair and shook it out. “Izzie’s your cardio god.”

“What?” he asked.

“Burke left me. I let him leave me. And now look at me. Trying to make Robbins like me because I thought it would sercure my job. That’s not me, Alex. I’ve become…I need my cardio god. But he left me.”

“Are you trying to relate to me or something? Burke left you at the altar. Like…a year ago. Haven’t you been with Hunt? What’s your point?”

“Izzie is your cardio god. You have a love for Izzie. You may try out other things, and mess around sometimes, but she’s your thing when it comes down to it. Don’t let her leave you.”

“She did leave me.”

“And she’s outside.”

“So I’m supposed to do the begging? She’s treated me like crap for the past –“

“Then let her beg,” she said. “Just…let her know there’s something to beg for.”

He shook his head and a smile spread across his face. “I never thought I’d be taking relationship advice from you.”

“Whatever,” she said.

I can't say it won't get bad at times. Like I said Lexzie have to work their ways back to each other. That's not gonna be easy all the time. But thanks for the trust. More is coming.

He finished changing and bravely went out to the parking lot to face her. She was wearing a purple empire waist dress and wig that looked almost like the long blond locks she had had the night they met. She looked good and he hated it. It drew him to her when he didn’t want to be drawn to her. He wanted to play hard to get and walk right by her with nothing but a mumbled comment about how she had thrown everything away.

“Are you just gonna keep staring or…?” she asked him. There was still a considerable distance been them, which was so fitting.

“Look who’s talking!” he snapped. “You want me to talk?! Really, Izzie?! You think I owe you one word right now?!”

“Alex –“

“No,” he said. “Stop. Your letter said it all. And now it’s my turn.”

“Fair enough,” she said so quietly that from where he stood he couldn’t even make it out. He just saw her pale pink lips move.

“I stuck by you through a lot, Izzie!” he continued. “I’ve loved you since…the first time we were together. And I cheated on you because I didn’t know how to handle that. So then you ended up with Denny. Who was there for you when he died? Who held you until they took him away? You know how hard that was for me? You were devastated by the death of another man, yet I was there. And I waited, and waited. And you hook up with O’Malley instead of me! And then there was the whole Rebecca thing. And I know that wasn’t your fault. That was me. I know. I’m just saying. That after all of that we finally got back together. And we were on top of the freakin’ world. And then -”

“You can’t blame me for –“

“I’m not blaming you for having cancer,” he said. “But I’m saying that it wasn’t easy.

It wasn’t easy to know that I had a 95 percent chance of losing you. And it was horrible seeing you that sick. And my God, Izzie! You beat it! You scared the crap out of me and even died in my arms! But you beat it! And then you get fired and just give it all up?! Do you how many people with the same type of cancer you have would do anything to be in your position right now? You got a second chance. And getting fired made you decide you didn’t want it?!”

“Alex…”

“No. Shut up. Because anything you say right now is gonna be defensive. Come to me when you’re ready to admit you’re a horrible person.”

With that, Alex hit the button on his keys that unlocked his car and walked across the parking lot. She watched - his words still stinging - as he got in it and drove into the darkness.

Just caught up with this. I like it alot, it's good to have something so present, it be nice if something along those lines happened on the show, instead of involving every scene with Alex with that dumb Reed girl UGHH (I am praying they don't hook up! ). But you really kind of nailed the characters and how they would really be, though Alex was a tad harsh at the end when he called her a terrible person, I can understand why, hopefully we'll see Izzie begging and pleading with him for a change in your next update, which I hope is soon!

And yeah. Alex is being harsh. But Izzie's actions were just as harsh. So he's mad. And he has every right to be.

He considered driving for awhile to throw Izzie off and then turning around and heading back to Joe’s, but instead he just kept heading towards the trailer.

Before he even got there, his phone rang. He rolled his eyes as he picked it up, thinking that it was Izzie already trying to make him hear her defence. As he had told her, that was not what he wanted to be hearing. He just wanted to know where she had been and if she was truly going to put her heart and soul into trying to fix their relationship.

It wasn’t Izzie. It was the chief. “Hello?” Alex answered.

“Karev, we need you to come in,” he said. “There was a shooting at Joe’s.”

“Shooting?” he asked.

“You heard right.”

“Man,” he sighed. He had almost been in that bar. “Okay, I’m coming.”

“Thank you. Hurry.”

“I will.”

“C’mon, Chief!” Alex heard Izzie’s voice yell out when he arrived back to the hospital. All the trauma cases from the shooting were flying through the doors and it was evident that Richard could use the extra pair of hands. “Please?”

“Fine,” he caved. “But if Human Resources gets word of you practicing any kind of medicine here –“|

“I know,” she said. “I know.”

“Joe’s in Trauma two,” he said, glancing over at Alex then back to Izzie. “Get gowns and go.”

“Joe?” Izzie asked. “He was one of the victims?”

“I have to work with her?” Alex asked.

“Yes,” he nodded. “To both. We don’t have time to waste. Let’s go.”

“Yes, Sir,” Izzie nodded. “C’mon, Alex,” she told him. “We can suck it up for Joe’s sake.”

“Sure,” he replied with an eye roll. “Is Joe stable?”

“I don’t know!” Richard answered. “Karev, I have a bunch of GSWs in here!”

“Yes, Sir,” he said. “Sorry.”
